Questions

What is your current career stage and what can help you unlock your next level?
I’ve spent the past 17 years immersed in the international art market, including 7 years as director of Galerie Karsten Greve in Paris, where I had the privilege of serving as artist liaison to Pierre Soulages until his passing. It was an extraordinary experience — working with museum-level collections and artists who shaped the very language of modern art. Since then, I’ve followed the advice of my collectors and opened my own consultancy in Dubai, YFAC, to respond to their evolving needs and to be closer to a market on the rise. While I continue to advise European collectors, my vision now is to actively participate in the growth of the Middle Eastern art ecosystem. As a Franco-Algerian, I feel a deep responsibility to help promote MENASA artists in Europe and, in parallel, introduce strong European voices to clients here. Recently, two of my French collectors acquired works by Zeinab Saleh, a brilliant artist based in Dubai who exhibited at Tate museum, from both David Zwirner and Château Shatto galleries. Meanwhile, collectors in the UAE have acquired emerging talents from the UK through our guidance as well. What would unlock the next level? Being part of a network like 1833, where cultural dialogue, curiosity, and high standards drive every interaction.
Why would you want to join 1833/١٨٣٣?
1833 resonates with the kind of cultural depth and creative energy I seek — a space where ideas, aesthetics, and intention come together. As the founder of Yelmani Fine Art Consultancy, I’ve spent 17 years in the art world building bridges between collectors, artists, and institutions. After years in Europe and particularly in Paris, I chose to base my company in Dubaï to contribute to the region’s artistic rise and to be closer to a new wave of collectors and creators. I would use my membership to connect with like-minded individuals across disciplines, exchange ideas, and build meaningful collaborations rooted in culture and legacy. I hope to contribute to the community by sharing insights from the global art market, introducing voices from the MENASA region to international circles, and bringing a Franco-Algerian perspective that embraces both tradition and transformation. 1833 isn’t just a place to belong — it seems to be a place to co-create. And that’s exactly what I’m looking for : synergies, inspiration and collaboration.
What are your creative interests? How do you spend your free time?
My creative interests are rooted in art history and the emotional power of visual language. I’m fascinated by how artists from different eras and geographies respond to their time — and how their work continues to speak across centuries. I spend my free time visiting museums, discovering underrepresented artists, and reading — a lot — from philosophy to literature to art books and auction catalogues. I’m also passionate about architecture, cinema, and the small, quiet details that reveal someone’s aesthetic universe. For me, creativity is about observation and curiosity — it’s everywhere if you know how to look.
