What is your current career stage and what can help you unlock your next level?
I own my own business, providing consultancy services to a variety of clients - private and public sector (governments, foundations, NGOs, and corporates). I also run a global Track II dialogue programme at the Middle East Institute, and am focused on building on the agency of countries on the global south amid a collapsing western world order. In all my work, feminism, equality and accountability are my core principles that run throughout my work and research. I also volunteer on the side for local civil society, prioritising Arab feminist organisations seeking gender justice working towards accountability, justice and equality across the Arab States.
Why would you want to join 1833/١٨٣٣?
I have been enthralled by the creative community in the region, more distinctly across communities in the Arab Gulf region since I moved to Dubai.i understand that I might not be the right kind of profile for this community, and respect that entirely. For me, the community would be an incredible opportunity to expand my networks, learn more about the creative industry, build new networks that help me better understand and learn from societies, communities and new forms of cultural expression, agency and identity.
What are your creative interests? How do you spend your free time?
Literature and music have always been my true passions. I’m a classically trained vocal scholar, who has been fortunate enough to sing in prestigious places. I’m an avid reader - both fiction and non-fiction, politics is my job, but gender justice, climate justice and equality are my passions. I would love opportunities to meet new creative people, be inspired, understand more about individual culture, collective passion, and discovering the merger of politics and art.
