What is your current career stage and what can help you unlock your next level?
I’m currently a public programming and exhibitions coordinator at Swalif Collective. I work on consulting and managing in public programming for clients and personal projects and exhibitions. Connecting with possible collaborators and clients is an ongoing work in progress as our work is heavily collaborative and we’re always looking to platform projects that speak to us. Other than my work at swalif I’m also a visual artist, so meeting and connecting with curators and creatives is also an immense addition to my practice and conceptual development.
Why would you want to join 1833/١٨٣٣?
I would like to believe that I bring a youthful and somewhat pessimistic real life perspective of the current generation of creative practitioners. Being able to meet and connect with a diverse group of individuals in the sector, would assist in creating an inter-generational dialogue. Highlighting the blind spots that are hard to recognize by the people in power, and the rest of the contemporary art market. I would also like to become a member so that I am able to really connect with artists of all generations and practices as to inform my own.
What are your creative interests? How do you spend your free time?
I’m a visual artist and cultural programming coordinator by day & night. I spend my free time around other people, my practice as an artist is heavily centered around my interactions with my family, and the contemporary art scene in Abu Dhabi. 10% of my practice includes physical and conceptual work, while the rest of it is comprised of these day to day interactions.
