What is your current career stage and what can help you unlock your next level?
I recently started working as an assistant curator at the Sharjah Art Foundation. In the future, I want to start curating my own shows and open a gallery space focused on exhibiting works of emerging documentary, investigative, and spatial practices from the Gulf and beyond. Joining 1833 would help me meet gallery owners, fellow curators, and patrons of the arts who might be interested in supporting the shows and the space.
Why would you want to join 1833/١٨٣٣?
Following the club's digital platforms for a few months now, I have been impressed with the program and its multi-faceted approach to enriching the UAE’s creative industries. I would love to attend your events, as well as hopefully join you on one of your upcoming trips. I believe that 1833 would allow me to not only meet outstanding individuals in the field from whom I can learn a lot from, but also be a platform to form collaborations for my personal practice of exhibition and publication-making — and more importantly — allow me to form genuine friendships, based on shared interests in art, travel, fashion, food and music.
What are your creative interests? How do you spend your free time?
My biggest interests are art, architecture, and fashion. In my free time, I tend to visit both non-profit and commercial art galleries or explore heritage sites. I’m also a big fan of the coffee culture in the UAE and enjoy exploring the many wonderful cafés within the country. As I have moved to the UAE recently, I’m also looking to get into off-roading and discovering the natural landscapes outside of Dubai.
