What is your current career stage and what can help you unlock your next level?
I am currently working as a senior legal counsel, and my specialism is banking and finance. I like what I do, but I also want to do something where I can make valuable contributions to the art world. I have written numerous papers at the Royal Academy about NFTs, blockchain, etc., and I would love to find an intersection of art, finance, and law and form my own business to help artists and art investors.
Why would you want to join 1833/١٨٣٣?
I believe 1833 is the right community to blossom in this region, where I can use my Western skills and connections. I was born and bred in Istanbul but spent more than a decade in London. Hence, I represent the East and West and am open to diversity and inclusion. I like people’s stories and would love to exchange stories and ideas. I have mentored countless junior lawyers and supported women. I am keen to use my technical skills to support and assist people in the UAE.
What are your creative interests? How do you spend your free time?
I am a lawyer by training, but my passion is art and culture! To pursue this interest, I am currently pursuing a master’s in cultural leadership at the Royal Academy of Arts in London. I am an avid follower of the current developments and discussions in the art world. I have recently moved to Abu Dhabi from London. In my free time, I visit museums and exhibitions in the UAE and familiarise myself with the art scene in this part of the World. I like exercising (yoga, Pilates, Barry’s, etc.) and meeting new people. I also do pottery and oil painting. I used to organise big gatherings in London and would love to continue doing the same here.
