What is your current career stage and what can help you unlock your next level?
I’m currently scaling my sustainable design studio, Studio Aya Moug, after launching our first capsule collection using Byblos, a papyrus-based biomaterial. My work has been recognized by leading platforms like COP28 and AD Middle East, and I’m now focused on expanding production, retail presence, and international collaborations. What can help me reach the next level is being surrounded by visionary creatives, access to mentorship, and opportunities to exchange ideas within a supportive, like-minded community—just like the 1833 Club.
Why would you want to join 1833/١٨٣٣?
As a designer working at the intersection of sustainability, material innovation, and cultural heritage, I’m constantly seeking a community that values thoughtful, forward-thinking design. Joining this club offers the opportunity to connect with like-minded creatives, share insights, and engage in meaningful collaborations that push boundaries and inspire change. I believe in the power of collective creativity and would be honored to contribute to and learn from this dynamic network.
What are your creative interests? How do you spend your free time?
My creative interests lie in material innovation, furniture design, and storytelling through objects. I’m fascinated by ancient techniques and how they can be reimagined for the future. In my free time, I explore traditional crafts, sketch, experiment with sustainable materials like papyrus, and visit museums or local design studios for inspiration. I also enjoy spending time with children, teaching art, and reconnecting with creativity in its purest form.
